The plug (100) has a solid-state laser i.e. semiconductor laser, for guiding-, shaping-, and generating a laser radiation (24). The laser is provided at a combustion chamber-side end of a housing in an opposite side of a combustion chamber window. The housing includes a cover plate for passing the laser radiation into a combustion chamber (14). An inner contour of the cover plate includes an edge in a region, which is spaced from a cover plate end facing toward the combustion chamber and from another cover plate end facing away from the combustion chamber. Length of the aperture is 12 mm. The combustion chamber is a transparent window formed from a durable heat-resistant and radiation-hard body such as glass, crystal, and sapphire. The cover plate consists of a material that is selected from a group consisting of nickel, brass, copper and material alloy.
