The steering rack (1) has a cylindrical steering gear housing (2) for axially and movably supporting a rack gear (3), where teeth (4) of the rack gear are meshed with teeth (5) of a pinion (6). Profiles of individual teeth heads and teeth bases of the teeth are formed as smooth curves. Radii of curvatures of the profiles of the teeth heads and the teeth bases and depths of the teeth are aligned to each other such that a minimized clearance is provided. The pinion is connected with a steering shaft or a shaft of a servomotor in a torque-proof manner.
