The sleeve (1) has a wall with an inner peripheral surface (1d), and a heating device with heating elements that are arranged in the surface of the wall. The wall is heated by the heating elements, and a plug-in groove (10a) is arranged adjacent to the inner peripheral surface for receiving an end (2a) of a pipe (2), and another plug-in groove (10b) receives another end (3a) of another pipe (3). The plug-in grooves are opened in opposite directions for receiving the pipes (2, 3) in a longitudinal direction (L) of the sleeve. The heating elements are arranged in a region of the plug-in grooves.
