The lid (14) has a sheet material i.e. double reduced black plate such as tin plate, for a container (12) i.e. patent lid box, with an outer collar, a sealing side wall, and a recessed center region. The center region comprises an edge seam adjacent the side wall, and an inner seam that is offset inwardly. The edge seam is formed as a U-shaped groove and the inner seam is formed as a V-shaped groove. A circulating closed rolling is provided on the outer collar, and the plate has a thickness of less than 0.18mm.
