The igniter unit (10) has a prefabricated pyrotechnic igniter (12) formed by an igniter housing (16) and electrical contacts (18). A plastic encapsulation (14) of the igniter housing has an opening portion (26), which adjoins to an opening side (20) of the igniter housing. The opening portion is breakable by an ignition of the pyrotechnic igniter, and is formed by a local projection (28). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) method for manufacturing an igniter unit, particularly for a gas generator; and (2) a module, particularly for use in an inner region of a vehicle.
