The method involves configuring a data processing system (30) such that instances of a performance network are provided. One of the instances is configured to perform a detection phase such that the instance initiates an alarm signal based on actual performance state corresponding to activity information of data when the information of the data are not assigned to the state. The instance is not assigned to another performance state or to an alarm state defined in the instance within alarm time interval, which is a function of a stored value of another time interval. An independent claim is also included for a system for non-obtrusive monitoring of a person.
