The filter has a vent line (4) for venting fuel and a closure element suspendable in a closed position for prevention of the vent line. The closure element is designed as a valve (6) in order to inhibit fuel flow by a fuel filter by gravitational force into the closed position. A closure body e.g. ball (8), is arranged in the closed position of the valve with a sealing element (9) in a plant. A pot is subdivided into two chambers by the sealing element, where one of the chambers is coupled with an interconnector (12) and the other chamber is coupled with an end part (5) of the vent line.
