The method involves illuminating empty goods using a light source with small half width that ranges between 3 nanometer and 40 nanometer. Light is filtered by a multi-band filter before the light is recorded by a camera, where center wavelength of the filter lies at a range of angular point of sensitivity of color channels of the camera. An image is recorded by the camera, which comprises the color channels, where angular point of wavelengths of the light lies at a range of the angular point of the sensitivity of the color channels of the camera. An independent claim is also included for a device for color characterization in a tunnel scanner and/or a reverse vending machine.
