Applying a functional layer e.g. a paint layer on a ceramic body e.g. a glass plate, where the layer is applied using applicator nozzles, which are impinged by a pressurized stationary formulation and/or paint
The method for applying a functional layer such as a paint layer on a ceramic body such as a glass plate (2), where the layer is applied using applicator nozzles, is claimed. The nozzles are impinged by a pressurized stationary formulation and/or paint. The nozzle needles are controlled by a plunger, by which a nozzle opening is releasable into the outlet of the formulation. A nozzle needle or a plunger is firmly connected with a membrane penetrated by the needle. The membrane seals the nozzle opening facing away from the nozzle needle or the plunger penetrated space in a fluid-tight manner. The method for applying a functional layer such as a paint layer on a ceramic body such as a glass plate (2), where the layer is applied using applicator nozzles, is claimed. The nozzles are impinged by a pressurized stationary formulation and/or paint. The nozzle needles are controlled by a plunger, by which a nozzle opening is releasable into the outlet of the formulation. A nozzle needle or a plunger is firmly connected with a membrane penetrated by the needle. The membrane: seals the nozzle opening facing away from the nozzle needle or the plunger penetrated space in a fluid-tight manner; and allows for opening and closing of the application nozzle required movement, and acts upon the plunger penetrated space for use as a pressure chamber of a pressurized fluid. The application of medium is carried out without air supply and/or the nozzle has an opening diameter of = 0.1 mm, and/or inorganic constituents are present in the formulation in a proportion of = 40%. A body provided with the formulation or paint is subjected to a heat treatment at 500-1350[deg] C to fix the layer located on the body. The inorganic constituents of the formulation exhibit color pigments or other substances with other functionality if the paint is made from a glass powder. The average particle size of the inorganic components of the formulation is = 1 mu m. The paint consists of the inorganic constituent or water based organic substance, where the water-based paint has a viscosity of 100-600 mPas and an organic medium based paint has a viscosity of 600-3000 mPa. The ceramic body is moved at a rate of 0.05-2.0 minutes/seconds relative to the applicator nozzle, where an application cycle is calculated from a nozzle opening time and a nozzle closing time. The application cycle is 0.5-15 minutes/seconds, and the nozzle opening time is 30-90% of the total cycle time. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for applying a functional formulation such as color on a ceramic body.
