A plasticizing unit for an injection molding machine, an extruder or the like, comprises– a cylindrical housing (1),– at least one rotatably driven in the plasticizing screw (2),– a liquid inlet device (3) in front of the outlet end (4) of the housing cylinder (1) for introducing a liquid substance in a plastic material in the plasticizing unit to plasticizing,– at least one fluid communication means - adaptor insert (6, 6 ''), in which a liquid supply duct (25) is arranged,– at least one in the cylinder wall (7) applied, via an access bore (31) in the worm chamber (5) which open into the receptacle (8) for the fluid communication means - adaptor insert (6, 6''),– a on the fluid communication means - adaptor insert (6, 6 '') mounted on the valve arrangement (29), by means of which the liquid supply duct (25) in the region of the adaptor insert (6, 6'') is closed, and– at least one fluid supply means (9, 10), which is a liquid pump (12, 13) with fluid reservoir (16, 17) and at a liquid connection line (26, 26 '') of the valve arrangement (29) is connected.
