The method involves connecting a contact piece to a strand end. Stranded wires (15) of another strand end (13) are welded with one another, before connection of the latter strand end with a connection. The latter strand end is welded by a fusion welding method, protective gas welding method, plasma arc welding method, beam welding method and by a resistor welding method. The latter strand end is formed with a homogeneous surface (17) and a spherical end. An oxide layer is obtained by a strand (14) during manufacturing the contact piece. An independent claim is also included for a brush unit.
