The method involves heating the component by the supply of a hot flow medium. The heating is limited only by a predetermined thermomechanical reference value. A heat exchanger, particularly a layer heat exchanger (1) is used for a high temperature fuel cell in a vehicle. The cover plates and baffle plates are fixed to a layer block and another flow medium is heated by the former heated flow medium in the layer block. An independent claim is also included for a layer heat exchanger with a collection box.
