The invention relates to a solar thermal once-through steam generator (21) with essentially vertically arranged tubes, which have an inner tube diameter d and are connected in parallel for the flow of a coolant, the inner tube diameter d being a function of a quotient K, with further pairs of values for the inner tube diameter d and of the quotient K, certain points lie in a coordinate system between a straight line A and a straight line B, and to form the quotient K, the total mass flow rate of all tubes at 100% steam output is divided by the sum of all tube outer diameters of the respective evaporator heating surface. The invention also relates to a solar tower power plant with a solar thermal once-through steam generator.
