The device (1) has a compressor (2) driven by an exhaust turbine (6) and/or a driving apparatus (12). A shaft (3) is retained in a body housing (9) and connected with the compressor. The compressor compresses gas i.e. air, which is supplied through a compressor inlet (4). A flow connection is provided between the inlet and the housing by a connecting line (19) e.g. hose and pipe. The housing retains shaft bearings (10, 11) of the shaft and the driving apparatus. A suction line (14) is provided between the compressor inlet and a gas inlet (13) comprising a filter e.g. fine or micro filters. The driving apparatus is designed as a permanent excited electromotor. An independent claim is also included for a drive assembly comprising a fuel cell supplied with compressed gas.
