The steering device (1) has an adjustable steering rack (5) with a ball screw. The ball screw has an actively used threaded section (9) on the steering rack, and the threaded section combs with a ball nut during the axial displacement movement of the steering rack. A passive threaded section lies outside the engagement region of the ball nut during the adjusting movement of the steering rack. An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a steering rack in a steering device.
