The capsule (1) has a base element (2), which comprises a cavity (3). A beverage raw material is provided in the cavity. The cavity is closed by a membrane (4), which is attached at the base element. An identifier makes the capsule to be individualized and comprises a shining surface (5) and a matt surface (6) with multiple reflectance characteristics. The identifier is provided with a recess and/or a projection (8). An edge region (2.4) is provided at the base element. A form fitting, frictional engagement unit and/or a detection unit are formed as a toothed ring or a toothed ring segment. The identifier is formed as an optical recognizable layer in the membrane and as a machine-readable printing, electrical conductive region, a metallic region, ferromagnetic region (12), radio frequency identification (RFID) chip and a bar code.
