The method involves connecting an electric machine with an input of one of partial gear boxes (22, 32). A purely electric drive transfers filling moment through an active power transmission path (26) or a passive power transmission path (36) during gear change. A drive motor (12) is accelerated before the gear change, where the filling moment is derived from the moment of inertia of the accelerated drive motor. Start gears and objective gears of the gear change lie in the partial gear box of the active power transmission path.
