The device has a displacement or rotation angle sensor (6) for influencing respective deflections of a control lever (4) in axial direction of an electromagnet (5) using electric current. An electronic evaluation and control unit (8) sets and stores minimum electric current and maximum current of the electromagnet. Switching elements (2, 3) produce connection to an electronic memory for storing the minimum and the maximum electric currents. A device determines the current and/or voltage during different deflections of the lever in axial direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling hydraulic elements.
