The present invention relates to a substance for generating a label of an object or of an individual, comprising a nucleic acid and carbon nanotubes, wherein each carbon nanotube has a first opening and a second opening which is opposite the first opening in the longitudinal direction of the carbon nanotube. According to the invention, the nucleic acid is completely taken up in the carbon nanotubes and the first opening and/or the second opening of the individual carbon nanotubes is/are closed by a closure. The invention further relates to a method for producing such a substance and a method for determining the identity or origin of an object or individual labelled with such a substance.
