The method involves performing compression (A) of a feed fraction (1) and subjecting to nitrogen separation (B). A nitrogen-containing fraction (5) is split by nitrogen separation and subjected to a cryogenic adsorptive cleaning process (E). The cryogenic adsorptive cleaning process is adapted in such a manner that the nitrogen-containing fraction is cooled and adsorptive product is purified at a temperature of less than 80 K. The purification of the nitrogen-containing fraction is realized by a pressure swing adsorption, vacuum pressure swing adsorption and/or thermal swing adsorption.
