The brake unit (10) has brake calipers (14, 16) attached to a brake disk (12). One of the calipers is designed as a floating frame brake caliper and provided with a brake lining, which is electromechanically pressed to the brake disk and movably mounted transverse to a pressing direction. The brake lining stands in connection with a hydraulic system (34) that is arranged in such a manner that a lateral displacement of the lining is converted at hydraulic pressure, by which a brake lining of another floating frame brake caliper is pressed against the brake disk.
