The individual voltages of memory cells (2) are detected. The switches (S) are provided in each memory cell for loading and unloading of the respective memory cell. The voltage of the memory cell above a predetermined upper voltage value is discharged across the switches, and the energy resulting after the discharge is stored in a buffer memory (5). The memory cells with a voltage below a predetermined voltage value are loaded by suitable actuation of the switch. An independent claim is included for energy store.
