The socket has a contact element (10) for contacting a connecting bolt (12) of a spark plug (14), where the bolt is connected with a middle electrode (18) of the plug. An outer wall (16) is engaged to a spark plug housing (26) in an area, and has an axial clamping section i.e. reinforcing fin (24), with inner diameter smaller than outer diameter of the housing. The section is arranged, such that the housing is arranged axially between the section and the contact element in a connected condition of the socket for locking the section to a side of the housing in an elastically-resilient manner.
