The portable data carrier (1) has a deformable portion which is formed as a push button (3) and deforms upon actuation of the switch. The electrical resistance of strain gauge is reduced and electrical resistance of strain gauge is increased during actuation of the pushbutton. A measuring device detects the manipulation of the switch based on the electrical resistance of strain gauges. An independent claim is included for manufacturing method of portable data carrier.
