The gripper (3) has two gripping jaws (7), where the gripping of the mask takes place by the movement of the gripping jaws against each other and a resulting partial lateral enclosure of the mask. The gripping surfaces of the gripping jaws have a groove for receiving a lateral recess (5) of the mask (2) during gripping. An independent claim is also included for an assembly for masking areas of a component.
