The method involves supplying liquid fuel to an internal combustion engine (1) through an injection valve (2). Supply of gaseous fuel to the engine is controlled by a metering valve (3). A gas line (4) is arranged between the metering valve and the engine, where the line has predetermined length (L) and predetermined dead volume (V) for the gaseous fuel. Supply of the liquid and gaseous fuels is switched based on storage of the gaseous fuel in the dead volume during a transition period. Supply of the liquid and gaseous fuels is modified such that the fuel is uniformly supplied to the engine. An independent claim is also included for a device for switching supply of liquid fuel such as petrol and diesel, and gaseous fuel such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and natural gas, to an internal combustion engine, comprising an injection valve.
