The device has a pair of two supporting elements (4) arranged at a counter support (7) or portal of a milling machine (3) for a milling arbor (1). The supporting elements are spaced at distance to each other, guided opposite to each other, and moved transverse to the milling arbor, such that distance of the supporting elements is modified. The supporting elements are fixed in different positions by a detachable fixing element and include a roller bearing or a hardened ring or a roller with an inserted rolling bearing or a sliding bearing for the arbor.
