The assembly has a battery comprising multiple electrochemical individual cells (1) i.e. lithium ion cells, and a flexible protective sheath surrounding the lithium ion cells. Hydrostatic fluid (F) e.g. water, surrounds the lithium ion cells so as to apply predetermined constant excess pressure (p) on the lithium ion cells against a surrounding area of the battery. The cells are clamped between circular supporting frames, where seals i.e. O-rings, are arranged between the supporting frames. The supporting frames are pressed against each other by a clamping unit.
