The method involves operating an internal combustion engine (2) with a fuel supply system (24). Critical operating mode of the internal combustion engine of a motor car (1) is determined to provide ice formation to an injection apparatus (22). Another fuel supply system (23) is switched on when the determined critical operating mode is presented for a predetermined time interval. Fuel supply of the combustion engine is switched between the fuel supply systems, and the former fuel supply system is switched on when the former fuel supply system is deactivated for the time interval. An independent claim is also included for a motor car comprising a fuel supply system.
