The membrane key has a switch membrane (1), a switching element (9), a diffuser (7) with light-guiding and light-scattering properties, a spacer membrane element (2,4), a decorative film (12), a light-emitting element (10), a light blocking element (5) and a light blocking layer (13). A recess (11) is formed between the diffuser and the light blocking element, in which a lens (10A) of the light-emitting element is protruded. The light blocking layer is integrated between light emitting element and the decorative film. An independent claim is also included for a membrane keypad with embossments.
