The connection box has an electrical and/or electronic component i.e. electronic circuit board (8), for connecting, protecting or controlling a solar module (2). A housing body (4) and a housing cover (7) are provided at a rear side and a front side of the solar module, respectively. The housing body and the cover overlap a recess/aperture (3) in a disk (1) of the solar module. The housing cover is releasably connected with the body and/or the module. The components are replaced after loosening the cover from the front side. An intermediate element (6) is designed as a connection socket. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a connection box.
