The device has an interface and a processing unit. Control signals are produced, with which a low-beam light distribution is adjusted at a right headlamp, and other control signals are produced, with which a high-beam light distribution is adjusted at a left headlamp, when the disappeared previous anti-glaring object finally has a position in a right part of a detection range (Operation 1). Different control signals are produced, with which high-beam and low beam light distributions are adjusted at both headlamps respectively. An independent claim is included for a method for controlling right and left headlights of a motor vehicle.
