The control unit has an interface for transmitting signals to one or multiple headlamps. Light distributions of the headlamps are adjustable by the transmitting signals. A change of an object angle is read via another interface, or determined by a controller from the object angle read through the latter interface. A low beam light distribution or a main beam light distribution is adjustable by a control and regulating medium in response to the change of the object angle. An independent claim is included for a method for controlling headlamps of a vehicle, particularly a motor-driven road vehicle.
