The input device is assigned with the magnetic field sensors (9,10,11,12) for generation of measurement signals (13,14,15,16) depending on the respective operating condition of the buttons (5,6,7,8) and with an evaluation device (4), on which the measuring signal is guided for detection of touch operation depending on measuring signals. An evaluation unit is formed for detecting an actuation of the button additional to evaluation of other measuring signal. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting an operation of a button of an input device for a field device.
