The circuit breaker has a thermal trigger (6) whose longitudinal axis is perpendicular to attachment plane of switching device and longitudinal axis of a magnetic trip (7). The longitudinal axis of thermal trigger is parallel to an actuator (3) such that the thermal trigger is positioned between the actuator and a contact system (4). A bimetallic strip (8) is connected between the thermal trigger and magnetic trip.
