The device (1) has a feed point (4) for adding fluid e.g. liquid such as urea water solution. A rod (5) is arranged in the device along a flow direction (3) prior to the feed point and partially transverse to the flow direction. The feed point is surrounded by a passage (6) in a wall (7) of the device. An injector (12) is provided at the feed point to supply the fluid in form of a spraying cone to the device, and a projection (9) is formed in the region of the feed point. A recess (10) forms a protuberance (13) in the wall of the device. The urea water solution is provided under the name AdBlue(RTM: diesel emissions additive).
