The method involves projecting stripe pattern in the phase surface of the object (1). Each of the surface with the superimposed pattern is detected by a camera (4,5). The gray level gradients in the recorded images pixel correspondence between associated pixels are determined. The gray value profiles are generated from a subset of the pattern image sequence and subset of the surface of the object shifted fringe patterns.
