Inorganic binding agent comprises a non-self-curing, aqueous alkali silicate solution (water glass) exhibiting a weight ratio of silica to metal oxide of 1.5:1-2:1, which hardens with an air-carbon dioxide mixture. An independent claim is also included for curing (hardening) the molding material comprising passing a combination of air and carbon dioxide through the molding material.
