The cleaning system (1) has a main pump (10) that supplies cleaning fluid (5a) on the surface (6) of vehicle, and an auxiliary pump (20) that supplies cleaning fluid (5b) on another surface (7) of vehicle. A control device (30) has two control units (11,21) for controlling the main and auxiliary pump units respectively. A sensor unit (31) monitors main pump unit. The actuation of auxiliary pump unit is controlled in dependence on the monitoring result of the sensor unit. An independent claim is included for method for initiating cleaning operation of cleaning system.
