The vacuum hood apparatus has a vacuum hood that is produced from an elastic plastics material for covering a surface (210) of a curable composite substrate (200). A peripheral groove (130) is formed in a peripheral region (120) of the vacuum hood. A gas communication link (140,141) is provided for generating a negative pressure by a pump unit in the peripheral groove.
