The apparatus has a rope (3) i.e. suspender belt, provided on a rope drum (4), and a resistant force generating unit and a restoring force generating unit arranged in a handgrip (1). The rope drum, the resistant force generating unit and the restoring force generating unit are formed as a single unit. The restoring force generating unit is formed as a spring i.e. spiral spring (2), where force of the spring is more adjustable. Monitoring devices are formed as a heart rate monitor. The belt is provided with locking devices e.g. Velcro(RTM: hook and loop fastener) closures.
