The method involves injecting a cleaning medium such as a granular blasting agent and/or liquids into complex shaped cavities of a cylinder head (2) mounted on a device mounting table (1). The cylinder head is vibrated by a vibration exciter (12) arranged below a clamping plate (13) in the mounting table so that multi-directional harmonic pulses of the cleaning medium hit on the walls of the cavities to clean the cavities.
