The device has a compressor (14) arranged in a pipe (12) for compressing supply air for an internal combustion engine. Flush air (36, 42) is introduced to the pipe over an inlet location (40) arranged upstream to the compressor. The flush air originates from a charcoal filter (30) for gaseous hydrocarbons. A flap (48) and a pressure cell for changing flowing throughability of the pipe are arranged upstream to the inlet location. The flap is arranged at an air filter (16) upstream to the inlet location. The flap is switched by the pressure cell. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an air supply device for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle.
