The cartridge i.e. ink cartridge, has a liquid discharge path provided in fluid communication with a fluid receiving unit. An opening-and/or closing unit is switched between opened and closed positions, and sections are opened in the opened position and closed in the closed position. A storage unit stores time duration data that indicates duration of a prescribed time, and the opening-and/or closing unit is moved from the closed to opened position when the time is elapsed after the cartridge is mounted in a printer housing (1a). A paper supply unit (1b) is inserted into an opening (10b). An independent claim is also included for an image forming apparatus.
