The method involves reaching a predetermined temperature threshold value in a cooking space (2) of a domestic appliance (1) during operation of heating elements (3-5), a fan (6) and a fan wheel (7). An operating mode is altered until temperature in the cooking space reaches another temperature threshold value with respect to the former temperature threshold value. One of the heating elements, the fan and the fan wheel are operated after reaching the latter temperature threshold value such that the temperature of the oven is held within a temperature interval.
