The plant (100) has a control system comprising slave control devices (510, 520), where one of the control devices controls system functions in case of failure of the other control device. The control devices are automatically switched-off in case of the failure. Hydraulic circuits (200) are provided with hydraulic motors (230, 240, 330, 340) and hydraulic pumps (210, 220, 310, 320) that are driven by drive machines (410, 420) e.g. combustion engines such as diesel engines. The hydraulic circuits and the drive machines are controlled by the control devices in case of the failure. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a hydrostatic plant.
