The method involves predicting future movement trajectories of vehicles (A). A prognosis individual maneuver options of a driver of the respective vehicles are determined from hypothesis motion trajectories. A range of motions between the vehicles representing a collision-free movement of the vehicles is determined from the hypothesis motion trajectories. A hazard probability is determined in response to a factor of the range of motions between the vehicles, where the hazard probability indicates a probability with which both vehicles are in a security zone.
