Producing a diesel piston, comprises e.g. providing pattern for piston comprising dome, forming piston mold around pattern, removing pattern of piston mold, and disposing a bimetallic ring into piston mold, at an upper surface of the dome
Producing a diesel piston, comprises (i) providing a pattern for the piston comprising a dome, (ii) forming a piston mold around the pattern, (iii) removing the pattern of the piston mold, (iv) disposing a bimetallic ring into the piston mold, at an upper surface of the dome, where a molten metal is introduced into the piston mold with the bimetallic ring, (v) contacting the piston mold with a solvent for the binding agent, (vii) removing the binding agent and the grain material, (viii) cooling the molten metal, and (ix) solidifying the molten metal to form the piston. Producing a diesel piston, comprises (i) providing a pattern for the piston comprising a dome, (ii) forming a piston mold around the pattern, where the mold exhibits a grain material and a binding agent, (iii) removing the pattern of the piston mold, (iv) disposing a bimetallic ring into the piston mold, at an upper surface of the dome, where a molten metal is introduced into the piston mold with the bimetallic ring, (v) contacting the piston mold with a solvent for the binding agent, (vii) removing the binding agent and the grain material, (viii) cooling the molten metal, and (ix) solidifying the molten metal to form the piston, where the bimetallic ring forms at least a portion of the upper surface of the dome. An independent claim is also included for the diesel piston, comprising a body and a dome exhibiting the bimetallic ring which is aluminum or an aluminum alloy and stainless steel, and the body is aluminum or an aluminum alloy, and the aluminum or aluminum alloy of the bimetallic ring is bound to the aluminum or aluminum alloy of the body.
