A transfer mechanism (10) includes a transfer cylinder (12) which conveys a transfer film (11) along with a printing material (4) through a transfer gap (13). A magnetic adhesive (3) containing MagSilica(RTM: Adhesive additive manufactured by Evonik industries) is applied from an adhesive reservoir (5) to printing material for adhesion of the film. A magnetic field dryer (17) is arranged to apply modulated electromagnetic radiation to the adhesive, in the movement direction (9) of printing material or behind the transfer gap, for drying the adhesive. An independent claim is included for method of transferring transfer film on printing material.
