The circuit breaker i.e. electronic fuse (1), has a control unit (5) controlling a switch unit (2) depending on detected current value so as to interrupt an electric circuit or power path (3). A self-holding circuit (6) retains a switching state of the switch unit after interruption of the electric circuit by the switch unit and controls the switch unit till receipt of a signal of the control unit such that the switch unit compensates the circuit interruption. A thermal storage device e.g. passive thermal storage, is thermally coupled with the switch unit. An independent claim is also included for a traction battery.
